Atayne Gets Trashier...
We're not talking Kid Rock- or Britney Spears-trashy. We're talking high performing athletic gear made from recycled materials-trashy.
Due to overwhelming demand (honestly, we had many people ask), we have launched the Atayne Trash T. Made from 100% recycled polyester, the Trash T is designed for groups that want to put their race, event, or organization brand on a performance top made in a more environmentally and socially responsible way.
Benefits of the Trash T include:
- Requires less energy to manufacture than tops made with virgin polyester (estimated at 70% less energy)
- Lessens our dependence on oil (primary material input for polyester)
- Promotes a new recycling stream for plastics bottles (less than 30% of plastic bottles are recycled in the US)
- Is fun to tell people you bought/wear shirts made out of trash
The Trash T is available in long and short sleeve for both men and women and is made in North America, just like all other Atayne gear. If you would like more information on the Trash T, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
or call +1.703.889.8338. And if you think your favorite local race should get a little trashy, introduce the race director to our Trash T. A little peer pressure for a good cause never hurt anyone.
Monthly Enviro Tip
As much as we love Spring, we can't say we are very fond of Spring cleaning (or any chore that keeps us inside). On the bright side, it can be a decent workout. An hour of vigorous cleaning can burn almost 400 calories. It's no trail run, but it affords us a couple extra pints of Guinness on St. Patty's Day.
When you dive into the task, make sure you are not doing more harm than good. Traditional cleaning products are full of nasty chemicals, many of which have been linked to health problems ranging from asthma to cancer. For you D.I.Y. greenies, consider making your own
. For those that did not do so well in Chemistry, we are partial to the eco-cleaners from Seventh Generation
Don't forget to apply those same cleaning principles to your Atayne top and other laundry. Opt for plant-based, biodegradable detergents over the petroleum-based, conventional ones.
Everything's Gotta Go!!!
Not really, we just think that is the cheesiest sales line of all time, and we were dying to use it. But Spring is in the air! And it's time to move out our remaining men's and women's long sleeve tops so we can bring in the tops for summer. Through March 31, 2009, we are offering our loyal readers of Atayne 360 30% off the purchase of our long sleeve tops (normally $44, but now less than a short sleeve top with this crazy deal). To take advantage of this offer, put the code gottago in the Coupon/Promotional Code field at checkout and press Apply.
This Race is for the Birds
Normally, we reserve this space to profile an athlete that inspires us. This month we decided to focus on an event for the sole reason that the organizers came up with a great name, "This Race is For the Birds." The Potomac Valley Audubon Society's
annual 5k race is coming up on May 2 in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. Not only will participants get to run and enjoy the sites of the National Conservation Training Center
, the event raises funds to support Potomac Valley Audubon's educational programs.
Great name, great course, great cause. Sounds like a good one to add to your Spring race calendar.
Where in the World is Atayne
Deep in the Heart of Texas!
Our friend Chelsey C. sported her Atayne top in her first ever 50-miler. And did she ever sport it, finishing in 2nd Place in this race north of Houston! From the words of Chelsey because we can't write it better ourselves, "I wore my Atayne shirt, because, well, it's my favorite shirt to run in! I had never worn it for that long before, and I just wanted to let you know that it was the best shirt I could have ever worn. For 8 hours of running it didn't give me any chafing, and by the end of it I still smelt pleasant enough for my crew to hug me in celebration!"
We're sure that some natural talent and a rigorous training schedule helped Chelsey in her amazing 50-mile debut. But we also like to think her Atayne top had something to do with it. Our expert research shows you will run faster without the weight of the world on your shoulders.

3 Ways to Green Your Work Out
A Glimpse Into the Future
We still have a few non-running volunteer positions available for RunTerra Gaithersburg on March 29. Although "trash" running may not sound very glamorous, the day promises to be a lot of fun. If that isn't enough, hopefully knowing you did something good for our environment and your complimentary Atayne top + free admission to the Go Green America Expo, will make it well worth it!
If you are interested in joining in the fun, email us at email@example.com
for more details.
