Atayne 360 - December 2010
We are not sure if Santa reads our newsletter, but we thought we would take a shot at reaching him this way in case he is a fan of Atayne. Plus, we wanted to give all of you the opportunity to get in on the Atayne giving game.
Despite the fact that our “fearless leader” Jeremy has been known to act up every once in a while, most of us at Camp Atayne have been pretty good this year. We all brushed our teeth twice a day, made our bed every morning, and picked up nearly 5,000 pounds of litter while trash running
. We think we deserve a few holiday gifts.
As we started to make our lists, we realized we didn’t need any new stuff. We have folding tables as desks, chairs from Habitat for Humanity’s Restore, a couple hand-me-down printers & scanners, some relatively new computers, and 5 devices that make coffee one way or another. What else is needed in the office of a start-up company?
Instead of stuff, this year we decided to ask for some more meaningful presents. And instead of filling our December eNewsletter with desperate pleas for you to buy more Atayne gear (although we do welcome you to do so), we decided to incorporate some of our Holiday wishes throughout.
Happy Reading and Happy Holidays to all!
Monthly Bolder Challenge
When we launched Atayne we wanted to do more than just sell gear. Yes, that is our business, but our passion is inspiring positive environmental and social change through the power of active lifestyles. We hope over the last couple years we have provided inspiration to a few of you.
As we get ready to enter 2011, we want to encourage and reward people for setting some positive goals for the year. Challenge yourself with a fitness and an environmental goal for 2011 and post it on our Bolder Challenge page
Everyone who shares their goals will receive 30% off their next order at Atayne.com. The person with the “boldest” resolutions will get a $50 gift certificate.
Help Put a Star on Our Tree
A couple years ago we asked the readers of Atayne 360 to help us get our gear in the hands of some high profile people (i.e. professional athletes, actors, musicians, politicians, or business leaders). The community stepped up to the challenge and we made some cool connections. Our personal favorite was Matt Damon. Not only is he a kick-ass actor and director, he has dabbled around with triathlons and was the Executive Producer of Running the Sahara
, a documentary that chronicles the journey of three men running across the Sahara to raise awareness and money for the water crisis in Africa. Great person to have sporting Atayne!
This holiday season we want to add another star to the Atayne tree. At the top of our wish list is Will Ferrell. Believe it or not, Ferrell is an avid runner…and we are not just talking about his famous streaking scene in Old School
. He has run a few marathons, including a respectable sub 4-hour time at the 2003 Boston Marathon.
Ferrell also has some environmental cred; he’s an active member of the National Resources Defense Council, drives a hydrogen-fueled car and has donated money to put solar panels on low-income housing projects. A funny runner who loves hugging trees? Sounds like the perfect candidate to be wearing Atayne.
Don’t have any connections to Mr. Ferrell. Here are a few others on our wish list:
- Leonardo DiCaprio
- Adrien Grenier
- Natalie Morales
- Ed Norton
- Alicia Silverstone
- Oprah Winfrey

In the words of Meatloaf…
Two out of three ain’t bad. Does that mean that 46 out of 50 is pretty good? Since we launched sales just over two years ago, we have shipped orders to 46 of the 50 states in the Union. Not too shabby, BUT, we want to do better. We want to bring the joy of Atayne to people in every state. We would love your help finishing our cross-country journey and checking these holdouts off our map.
- North Dakota
Know someone in these states? Give them an intro to Atayne. Or cut straight to the chase and buy them a gift. It is the holidays after all.
Atayne at Play
We have a couple theories on why Helen W. is jumping for joy. It could be:
1. She is in Taiwan visiting family just after getting married OR
2. She is wearing a highly coveted Atayne long sleeve top.
While we would like to believe it is #2, we have a feeling it might be #1. Anyway, thanks to Helen for letting us vicariously tag along on the trip.
It’s a Little Known Fact
Congratulations to November winner Wendy H who knew that our Composite B Score is 106.3. For those wondering, our Composite B Score is determined by B Lab, the certifying organization for B Corporations. We must have a B Score of at least 80 to be a certified B Corporation.
Now for December's question. Who are three people that have been quoted by the Atayne team? One of these must be someone not on the home page.
To join in the fun, email your answer to firstname.lastname@example.org
. To be entered into the drawing for the $25 gift certificate, your answer must be received by Friday, December 31st.
Until next Year, Keep it Clean!
